Establishment of Burning Restrictions for the Village of Erie 

Amendment to Title 6, Chapter 8 

On May 9th, 2023 the Village of Erie established Burning restrictions on yard waste (Leaves, Sticks…)  This does not apply to recreational “fire pits, camp/bonfires…”

Yard Waste may be burned between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.  

Yard waste may not be burned within 6 feet of any street, ally, or sidewalk, and must be attended by a competent and responsible person 16 years or older until such burning is completely extinguished. 

Additionally, the burning of yard waste will be prohibited on Holloween. 

The penalty for a violation may result in fines between $50.00 to $750.00 depending on the circumstance.
